ServicesDisability

Disability is one of the core areas of work for the foundation and we have been supporting programs aiming at the empowerment of people with disabilities. These projects cover all types of physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities and people with mental health issues. Crosscut Film Foundation’s support is extended through funding, technical assistance and advocacy support to organizations already working in this sector. Our focus on disability complies with the UN convention on the rights of people with disabilities, to promote a shift from the institutional care system to the community – based services. We are working with a diverse set of stakeholders ranging from non-governmental organizations, National Trust (under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment), Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Inclusive Living

There have been a huge number of persons with mental illness who have recovered in the mental institutions but are not able to live an independent life due to various social, cultural and economic reasons. Given this bare reality in India, Kross Kut Film Foundation demonstrates models of independent living for persons who have recovered from mental illness. Through this project, the persons were also provided support for independent group living. Kross Kut Film Foundation supports the monthly provisions for those persons and also integrated regular health check-ups, counselling and assessment of the individuals. This model is an inspiration for other partners working in the field of mental health and has paved a way for similar initiatives in India.

Empowerment

Kross Kut Film Foundation takes initiatives which would be scaled up where more number of persons with mental illness who are deemed fit to undertake this activity would be inducted. This project has not only brought back their self-esteem and dignity but has also demonstrated that with support these people can fight back to join the mainstream.
Kross Kut Film Foundation has supported partners to work on projects to enhance the employability of persons with disabilities through imparting vocation skills as well.

Outreach

The Outreach Program supports families by providing parent coaching and learning opportunities for children with disabilities or delays, age birth to three in home-based and other community settings. Our highly trained and qualified Developmental Therapists utilize a coaching model as they work with caregivers to embed opportunities to address their child’s goals within their natural environment and everyday routines. Kross Kut Film Foundation implements community outreach interventions through comprehensive components of identification, counselling, referral, mediation and networking.

Holistic Care

A disabled child faces problems such as accessibility of welfare centres and health care establishments; minimal infrastructure support; negative attitudes of health care professionals or employers; limited educational and vocational opportunities; social stigma; negligible psychological and social support to them as well as their families; monetary constraints; and poor quality of life, v is supporting organizations that provided day-care support for persons with disabilities. The projects worked towards enhancing the competencies of the individuals through the help of an occupation therapist and other professionals.

Prosthetic aids

Kross Kut Film Foundation is funded largely by donations from private companies, banks, and individuals, plus funding from the Indian Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment under the ADIP Scheme (Assistance to Disabled Persons for the Purchase and Fitting of Aids and Appliances), which aims to assist persons with disabilities in procuring appropriate modern aids and appliances to assist their physical, social, and psychological well-being.
