ServicesCancer

Every year about a million new cancer patients increase in our country which leaves little resources to meet the post-treatment clinical, psychological and emotional needs of survivors. In order to contribute to this neglected area of concern in cancer, Kross Kut Film Foundation devotes in spreading cancer knowledge and information, screening, resources building, patient supports and research activities.

INFORMATION

It is more so for a disease like cancer where more than 70% of disease burden is related to life-style factors such as food & beverage practices, personal habits, infections, tobacco consumption and social customs. In addition, urbanization, industrialization and increasing life-span are also known to influence the cancer pattern globally. This necessitates proper appreciation of risk factors and other causes of cancer by the people. At Crosscut Film Foundation, we consider information and public education to be of vital importance in our cancer prevention initiatives. Kross Kut Film Foundation has continuously worked on developing new communication strategy, methods and modules for urban and rural populations to control cancer.

SCREENING

High incidences of cervical cancer are reported mainly from rural and in underprivileged populations in urban areas. Kross Kut Film Foundation regularly holds cervical cancer screening field clinics on voluntary basis in rural and urban slum populations. Each screening clinic is held in the village / slums where women are first made aware of the disease through innovative communication material developed in-house at Kross Kut Film Foundation after thorough medical examination and documentation.

RESOURCES

A major impediment in planning cancer preventive work or down staging of cancer in the country has been the shortage of appropriately trained human resource in medical, para-medical and technical disciplines. Medical education in the country focuses mainly on diagnosis and treatment protocols and preventive oncology is yet to find its roots in most places. There is a severe shortage of properly trained nurses and health workers in cancer care. Thus, Kross Kut Film Foundation endeavours to continuously avail human resource in cancer prevention, organizing workshops, seminars, symposia, get-together and meeting etc.

TREATMENT

At Kross Kut Film Foundation, we are aware that attention to survivors' issues is as important as augmenting cancer prevention and early detection facilities in the country. From the very beginning Kross Kut Film Foundation has addressed this important service to cancer patients through Cancer Helpline, where survivors are provided clinical counselling and consultation by a panel of expert counsellor and oncologists. Kross Kut Film Foundation Patient support services includes viz, survey among cancer survivors and understand their needs, clinical support, provide clinical consultancy, dietary and nutritional counselling, pain & palliative and psycho-oncology support and prosthesis Services, nursing services/home patient care, financial support, subsidized drugs / medicines, home medical equipment and getting sponsorship from different organisations

RESEARCH

Appropriate translational research is the need of the hour in cancer control. Although considerable basic knowledge is available from experimental cancer research conducted by Kross Kut Film Foundation, it needs to be validated in population-based studies for its application to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Besides, there is severe lack of base-line data needed to plan proper preventive and interventional strategies in India.
